Tradition

As couples start new families they want to carry on traditions. Whether it be from when they were children, or just start their own. A couple of things that Jennifer and I started when we first got married, have lasted now for 6 years. After having 2 children and one on the way we have kept these traditions going. One is an ornament exchange that we will get each other an ornament every year. Jennifer is easy to get one for, because she likes angels, snowmen, stars, and anything involving the Red Sox, OU, or Patriots. (Just Kidding the last three are my obessions.) Anyway we get an ornament for the boys every year as well. One other thing we do is get a real Christamas Tree. We used to go to Lowe's or some place that sold them and just picked one up, but they never lasted as long. So 3 years ago we decided to cut down our own, we found a Christmas Tree farm just 1and 1\2 miles from the house and have gone there every since. Clayton loves the idea of going and getting a tree and decorating it. As you can tell by the expression on his face he is thrilled to help Daddy cut it down.

When I was a kid we didn't do these kind of things, we just got in the attic and pulled down the same old tree year after year. Not saying that there is anything wrong with that, just not a lot of excitement for me as a youngster. It is just a cool bonding experience for a family to go look for a tree, cut it down, and lug it on top of the car. (Well I didn't any lugging until we got home.) By far this tree we got this year was the lightest tree I have lifted, and we didn't have any problems to get it to stand up straight once we put it up.This year has been really special, because Clayton understands a little bit better what Christmas is. Jennifer started this cool thing this year so Clayton could count down the days until Christmas. Each day we pull off the chain and read what we have in store for us that day. Make cookies for a neighbor, look at Christmas Lights, make a Gingerbread House, or just go play at the malls play area. She makes sure we have fun, and I know Clayton really enjoys it.

Carter is not left out of this, he is usually rolling somewhere near by. Carter had a photo session the other day which I will post on the next blog. Well I better end this blog for now, and I will try to post more often.
Remember Keep On Laughing!!
